Project 94 raising awareness for male suicide
We were asked by Telford and Wrekin Council to take part in the Project 94 suicide prevention event to raise awareness of male suicide.
We decided to do what we do best and use a visual display of graffiti art, the concept was to use images including 94 pairs of shoes which is the number of men who complete suicide in the UK, we also added the image of cards to be given out with phone help numbers that were given out on the day.
Our resident graffiti artist Monemah and our creative mentor and a recharge group member called Jerry designed, sprayed, and painted the whole design.
The artwork was the focal point of the day in Southwater square at Telford Town Centre and displayed all day at the hugely successful event put on by Telford and Wrekin.
Rich and Jerry raised a huge sum of money by spraying canvasses for the public to buy and the money raised went to the Cameron Trust.
We love getting involved with community projects that raise awareness and it’s a great way to enable our young people at Recharge to grow their creativity.
Thank you to everyone involved including Trademark Blud our very own Hip Hop artist who sang his new track devoted to speaking out when suffering from suicidal thoughts because there is help out there.
The two-day workshop to do the graffiti was another huge success thank you to all involved.
